A Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding
Chelsea Old Town Hall is home to the Kensington and Chelsea register office and one of London’s most elegant places to marry. The original Vestry Hall, designed by J. M. Brydon in a neoclassical style, opened in 1887 and is Grade II* listed, while the King’s Road front was added by Leonard Stokes in 1907.
Inside, a granite-columned entrance leads to marble-floored corridors and rooms with ornate coved ceilings. Judy Garland married here in 1969, and the building still has that sense of occasion, with plenty of beautiful light and detail for photos.

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photos: What to Know
You will need to meet the registrars 15 minutes before your ceremony, and ceremonies cannot run past their booked slot, so arriving late can shorten yours. We arrive early to photograph you and your guests gathering, then capture the ceremony, the signing and the moment you walk out together.
Biodegradable confetti is allowed, but only on the outside steps, and rice and pasta are not. The stone steps can be slippery, so we will position everyone safely for the confetti shot and the group photos that follow.

Chelsea is made for portraits. A short walk takes you to Bywater Street, with its row of brightly painted houses, or to Duke of York Square, with its open paving and trees. Heading towards the river, Cheyne Walk has some of London’s most beautiful old houses.
