The Venue
A Lambeth Town Hall Wedding
Lambeth Town Hall has stood at the top of Brixton Hill since 1908, when it was opened by King George V and Queen Mary. Designed by Septimus Warwick and H. Austen Hall in a red brick and Portland stone Baroque style, it is Grade II listed, and its tall clock tower, decorated with figures of Justice, Science, Art and Literature, is one of Brixton’s best-known landmarks.
Inside, staircases with marble panels and brass rails lead to rooms full of character, from the domed Council Chamber with its Edwardian chandeliers to the Bowie Room, named after Brixton-born David Bowie. It is a building with real personality, and it shows in the photos.

On the Day
Lambeth Town Hall Wedding Photos: What to Know
Ceremonies at Lambeth usually last 20 to 25 minutes, and you get the room 20 minutes beforehand. In the Bowie, Pauline and Olive Morris rooms you need to leave shortly after the ceremony, so we take most group photos outside. Photographers are welcome, do not count towards your guest numbers, and follow the registrars’ directions during the ceremony.
Confetti and rice are not allowed anywhere, including the courtyard and steps, but bubbles are, and they make brilliant photos. Lambeth also offers a 30-minute photography session in the ceremony room for £45, worth considering if you would like portraits in your room without rushing.

Brixton is full of colour. Windrush Square is just a couple of minutes away and gives you open space right in the heart of Brixton. A few minutes further, Brixton Village and Market Row offer covered arcades, bright shopfronts and lots of atmosphere, and Electric Avenue is a classic Brixton backdrop.
If you prefer green space, Brockwell Park is a short walk up the hill, with rolling lawns, old trees and views across south London. We will choose spots that suit your style and your timings.
